Before printmaking I was a designer of television graphics. I was at the BBC for fourteen years and the variety of work included five title sequences for Doctor Who. Later, with a BBC colleague. I formed the company Lodge/Cheesman and produced graphics mainly for advertising, effects for the feature films Alien and Bladerunner, and diagrams for BMW in Munich.

Eventually I began to design children’s books. The first one was illustrated with woodcuts. None of the twelve books were best sellers but it introduced me to the art of printmaking.

I print on a large Victorian press.
